Answer:

Throughout the poem, ‘Ode to Autumn’ by John Keats there are a number of different features relating to Romanticism, one of the main features is that of nature and the idea that as time progresses, nature does not just change but we also change in the lives that we live. Keats utilises the idea that nature is always changing, as he describes the transition of Autumn to Winter. This implies that Keats is conveying another feature of Romanticism, which is creativity. Keats is using simple, clear and direct symbolism such as the seasons changing as an attempt to represent the concept that life is constantly changing and nothing stays the same.

Furthermore, creativity as a feature of Romanticism is also presented in ‘Ode to Autumn’ particularly through the concept of Keats’ use of imagery, ‘the redbreast whistles from a garden-croft’ is another feature of Romanticism, relating to art and creativity, as seasons change. The reference to ‘the redbreast’ symbolises a change in the seasons, as Keats is now describing winter. The first stanza is a representation of early autumn, ‘all fruit with ripeness to the core’, the second stanza is Keats writing about mid-autumn, as he describes the wheat being cut, ‘Thee sitting careless on a granary floor’. In the final stanza is Keats implies that winter is approaching ‘and gathering swallows twitter in the skies’.
