Recycle today for a better tomorrow
Paper, Bottles, Cans, Plastic...recycle them all, it's Fantastic!

SPM Calls For A 'Plastic Free Pune'

The Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali has taken an initiative to create awareness and  make Pune free of plastic bags, plastic waste and electronic waste in the period from August 18 to 28.

SPM English School, Secondary, along with other schools and colleges under SP Mandali, has launched a campaign to create public awareness against the dumping of plastic waste in and around Pune indiscriminately.

About 620 students and 25 teachers from SPM joined the rally organised by the school on Saturday, August 20. The students walked with discipline carrying various posters and slogans to raise their voice against various hazards proving fatal to the environment. They spread the message among the public through slogans on taking active steps to save our environment. Classes V to VIII participated in a poster-making and slogan-writing competitions. 'Reduce, reuse and recycle', 'Avoid plastic to prevent pollution', 'Caution is the only solution to stop pollution' were some of the slogans that the students had come up with.

The enthusiastic students distributed pamphlets to the passers-by. The chairman of SPM English School committee, Keshav Vaze too joined the rally. On reaching the school premises, Vaze and the principal of SP College, Dr. Dilip Sheth, addressed the students and explained to them the importance of saving the environment.

As a part of the initiative, students paid visits in their neighbourhood to distribute pamphlets and tie rakhis on the hands of their neighbour's friends and relatives. They asked them to bring all the e-waste and plastic waste from their houses to the collection centre at S.P.M. English School on Sunday, August 28 for disposal.

To further strengthen the initiative, the students have planned to approach and appeal the public by urging them to bring the plastic and e-waste from their houses to the school's collection centre.

SPM School believes that positive attitude and approach of our young generation will definitely succeed in creating a pollution-free atmosphere and environment.
