Let the Cost price of the Mobile phone be : C

Given that it's Marked price is 35% above than Cost Price

⇒ Marked Price of Mobile phone = C + (35/100) ×C = C + 0.35C

⇒ Marked Price = 1.35C

Given that the Uncle gave a discount of 20%

⇒ Selling Price of the Mobile Phone = Marked Price - Discount

As Discount is Given on the Marked Price :

⇒ Discount = 20/100 × 1.35C = 0.2 × 1.35C = 0.27C

⇒ Selling Price of Mobile Phone = 1.35C - 0.27C = 1.08C

⇒ As Selling Price is greater than Cost Price (1.08C > C)

⇒ We know that Profit % = {(SP - CP)/CP} × 100

⇒ Profit % = {(1.08C - C)/C} × 100

⇒ Profit % = 0.08 × 100 = 8%
