Given :

  • Age of Aarav = 5 years less than Ram.
  • Four years later, Age of Ram = Twice than Aarav.

To find :

The present ages of Ram and Aarav.

Solution :

Let the age of Ram be = 'x' years

.°. Age of Aarav = '(x - 5)' years

After four years,

Age of Ram = (x + 4) years

& Age of Aarav = {(x - 5) + 4} years

= {x - 5 + 4} years

= {x - 1} years

According to question,

=> (x + 4) = 2(x - 1)

=> x + 4 = 2x - 2

=> x - 2x = - 2 - 4

=> - x = - 6

.°. x = 6

Hence, the age of Ram is = 6 years

& the age of Aarav (6 - 5) = 1 years
