The ending of the play ‘Two gentlemen of Verona’ is very disturbing both from the perspective of an artist as well as from the perspective of an artist.
Valentine restricts his friend Proteus from attempting rape to Silvia but then a sudden change in his personality is observed.
Though Silvia’s father intends to get Valentine and Silvia married off but Valentine declares to find common happiness of Proteus and him in Silvia.
This is a very baffling ending.
The ending would have been a sensible and morally correct one if Valentine wouldn’t have compromised with his friend.
