Through our skin, the sensory receptors present on our skin send signals through the neurons to our spinal cord (through which fast detection of fight or flight occur) and then we realize that a hot object is at our finger tips, this all occurs in a matter of seconds

our body detects our contact with a hot object with the help of the nervous system. the receptors on the tips of our fingures transmit electric signal through the sensory neurons to the inter neurons which then take the message to the brain or spinal cord from where the commands are the transmitted to the motor neuron which carry the signals to the muscles and we withdraw our hand. This process is called reflex action, and this path of action is called reflex arc.
