Thermoplastics can be remelted into a liquid whereas thermoset plastics always remain in a permanent solid state.

\implies Difference between Thermoplastic and Thermosetting.

Thermoplastic: As these plastic soften on heating, they can be recycled, reused, coloured, melted, and moulded into different shapes. Some thermoplastics and their uses are mentioned below:

  1. PVC:— One of the most commonly used plastic is PVC (polyvinyl chloride). PVC what is used as building material and to make enclosures for electronic items, shoe soles, pipes and many other items.
  2. Teflon:— Teflon is a scratch proof, corrosion-resistant plastic, which is used to provide protective covering to materials. The popular non stick find pants are covered with teflon. Teflon coating on a car protects the paint of the car.

Thermosetting: Such plastics once mounted cannot be heated and recast into another shape. Some thermosetting plastics are:—

  1. Bakelite:— Bakelite is used for making plugs, sockets, switches, and other electrical fittings.
  2. Melamine:— It is used for making unbreakable kitchenware. Melamine plastic is also coated on the uniform of firemen. This makes will uniforms fire-resistant.
