Characteristic features

✴️ hemichordata was earlier considered as subphylum of Chordate. But now it is placed as a separate phylum under non - chordate.

✴️ body is warm like called body is divided into three parts proboscis collar trunk

✴️hemi chordates are marine and organ system level of body organisation

✴️ body wall has single layered epidermis

✴️ they are bilateral symmetrical and triploblastic animals

✴️ skeleton tissue is absent and bones are also absent

✴️ excretion is done by a single glomerulus and proboscis gland

✴️ central nervous system is just like non chordata brain is present in the form of nerve ring.

✴️ these are mostly unisexual and reproduction is sexual

✴️ fertilization is external

✴️ development is direct or indirect because some animals have tornaria larva just like bipinaria larva of echinodermata in their developmental stages.
