Answer:

I have already told mom a thousand

times that spending our hot summer days in a Safari trip is the worst idea ever. But I guess being divorced for so long and finally finding her one true love (again) in the body of our family dentist slash self proclaimed hunter extraordinaire confounds the mind and basically turns her brain into mush. The sweltering heat in this blasted God-forsaken African desert makes life back home much, much cooler. This is not the first time I thought about this and it will certainly not be the last. Right now though my internal ranting was abruptly cut short by natives shouting incoherently in probably their native language Swahili. I turned to them and focused on their body language in an attempt to decipher what the commotion is all about. Jeezus, thought we hired the best guides money can buy. Seems mom's lover is just empty talk. I refocused on our native guides and saw them frantically shouting and pointing their fingers. When shifted my gaze to the direction they're pointing to, my eyes went wide with shock. What I saw was something one sees in the movies. What I was actually thinking at the time was that old movie Mom loves so much. It was the scene where a huge tidal wave is about to hit the ship. To me, it looks as ginormous but this time instead of a tidal wave it was a sandstorm. Everything happened so fast. No matter how fast we us. After what seems to be an

ran, the sandstorm eventually overtook

eternal, unending moment of nothing but sand everywhere, it finally stopped. got sand everywhere in my body and it is as uncomfortable as it can be but my mind is elsewhere. Where did everybody go? I shouted until I was hoarse but I did not receive a reply. Seems there is no one else for miles and miles. Nothing but barren desert wasteland. This is the worst idea ever Mom. This is not the first time I've thought about it and it was definitely not the last. Am I magically transported like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz except instead of a hurricane it is a ginormous sandstorm. But I am still in the desert and there is no one around. There is no one around. For miles and miles. No discernible landmarks. Nothing but sand all around. Then it dawned on me, with utmost horror - I am lost in the desert.
