1)The Mauryan Empire was divided into four provinces with the imperial capital at Pataliputra. From Ashokan Edicts, the name of the four provincial capitals were Tosali (in the east), Ujjain in the west, Suvarnagiri (in the south), and Taxila (in the north).
2)He spread the doctrines of Buddha by engraving them on rocks, pillars and on the walls of the caves throughout the vast empire. Ashoka appointed officers called Dharma Mahamatras, Yuktas and Rajjukas to spread Dharma among the people.
3)The following are the main principles of Ashoka's dhamma: People should live in peace and harmony. Everyone should practise the principle of ahimsa, i.e. non-violence and non-injury to all living beings. People should love one another and display respect and tolerance towards other religious faiths.
