let's the cost of the chair=x

then cost of table=x+40

cost of 2 chairs and 2 tables= 520 rupees

2(cost of chair)+2(cost of table)=520 rupees

2x+2x+80=520

4x=520-80

4x=440

x=440/4

x=110

therefore,cost of chair=110 rupees

and cost of table= 110+40

=150 rupees
