Anaphase 1: (Early Anaphase)

Characteristics

1. The asters grip the centromere of the chromosomes (only in an animal cell)
2. In case if plants no asters appear but they too are pulled towards the poles.

Anaphase 2: (Late Anaphase)

Characteristics

1. The chromosomes break apart form the centromere
2. They reach the opposite poles
3. A furrow starts appearing (in animals) and a cell plate starts appearing from the center that slowly goes to the cell wall (in plants)
4. Cytokinesis begins
