Answers
ANSWER :
Desire for peace is as old as humanity. Like Democracy, Justice, Liberty, Equality and Human right ,'Peace’ has become a buzzword. Peace occupies a central place in the teachings of all religion. After the First World War the league of Nations was established for the maintenance of world peace. The outbreak of World War II sounded the death Bell of the League of Nations. World War II was even more horrible and destructive than World War I. There grew a Universal desire for peace. An attempt to establish a World organisation was made in the right earnest. The united nations was established on October 24, 1945. The main aim of the United Nation is to maintain International peace and security. In the Preamble of the United Nations it states that , “We the people of the United Nations determine to save the succeeding generations from the Scourge of War, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold Sorrows to mankind ……. and to unite our strength to maintain International peace and security…...have resolved to combine our efforts to accomplish these aims .” Since 1945, United Nations has tried to maintain international peace and security.
But for maintenance of world peace it is essential that the thinking of the people must be changed. Minds promote peace. The Preamble of UNESCO begins with these words, “Since War begins in the minds of men,it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed.” There are numerous causes of war i.e ,psychological, economic, political and social. Among the various regions the most important reason is psychological reasons. That is to say war begin in the conscious Minds of men. Minds of men can be changed through education, science and culture. UNESCO was conceived of and created on the hope that could be “founded …… upon the intellectual and in moral solidarity of mankind.
It is not enough to focus only on human mind. Economic and Political factors are also responsible for the occurrence of War. Hence we should focus on political, social and economic factor also. Moreover the elimination of structural violence necessitates the creation of just and democratic State.
