Explanation

  • Fats are organic compounds known as lipids. They are insoluble in water. They are digested (broken down) by the enzyme called lipase secreted by the pancreas into the GI tract. But The fats, being sinsoluble in water, stick together and form a mass. The lipase, which is water soluble cannot enter the lipid mass and react.
  • Alveoli is the structural and functional unit of lungs.
  • The main function of hemoglobin is to carry oxygen from the lungs to all the tissues of the body. This is due to the affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen. When hemoglobin comes in contact with oxygen, it combines with it and form oxy-hemoglobin.
  • When Haemoglobin concentration in blood decreases, it leads to decreased oxygen carrying capacity of blood, which causes anemic hypoxia. If there is no deficiency or hemoglobinopathy in the patient following will occur. Hypoxia itself is a trigger for release of a hormone called erythropoietin, which causes more production of RBCs or erythrocytes.
  • Xylem is the complex, dead and permanent tissue responsible for carrying nutrients and water, whereas phloem is the soft and permanent tissue play its role in transporting the food and other organic material produced by the green parts especially leaves by the process of photosynthesis.

  • Alveoli and nephron serve as both structural and functional units in two distinct systems. Alveoli can be found in the lungs while nephron is found in the kidney. The main difference between alveoli and nephron is that alveoli occur in the respiratory system whereas nephron occurs in the excretory system
