firstly ,draw two mutually perpendicular lines which divide the plane into four quadrants.

If both( abscissa and ordinates) coordinates are positive , then point lies in I quadrant.

If abscissa is negative and ordinate is positive then point Lies in II quadrant .

If both coordinates are negative then point Lies in III quadrant.

If abscissa is positive and ordinate is negative then the point lies in IV quadrant.

Solution:

The point (-2,4) lies in second quadrant because it's X co-ordinate is negative and Y co-ordinate is positive.

The point (3,-1) lies in IV quadrant because it's X co-ordinate is positive and Y co-ordinate is negative.

The point (-1,0) lies on negative x-axis because it's X co-ordinate is negative and y co-ordinate is zero.

The point (1,2) lies in first quadrant because it's both coordinates are positive.

The point (-3,5) lies in third quadrant because it's both coordinates are negative.
