Question 1- Water flows in a tank 150m × 100m at the base through a pipe whose cross-section is 2 dm × 1.5 dm at the speed of 15 km/h. In what time, will the water be 3m deep?

Question 2- A solid cylinder has total surface area of 462 sq cm. Its curved surface area is one-third of its total surface area. Find the volume of the cylinder. (Assume π=22/7).

Step-by-step explanation:

Question 1- Volume of water in the tank, when depth is of 3 m, V = 150 × 100 × 3 = 45000 m3

Rate of volume of water flowing = 2 × 1.5 × 10-2 × 15000 m3/hr = 450 m3/hr

Thus, time taken = 45000/450 hr = 100 hours

Question 2- Curved surface area = total surface area / 3.

Curved surface area = 462/3 = 154.

Rest of area = 462 - 154 = 308.

2πr^2 = 308.

r^2 = 308 x 7 / 44 = 49.

r = 7.

2πrh = 154.

h = 154 / 2 x 22 = 7/2.

Volume = πr^2 h = (22/7) x (7^2) x (7/2) = 539.

Volume = 539 cm^3....

Answer: Volume of water in the tank, when depth is of 3m

V= 150×100×3= 45000m3

Volume of water flowing= 2×1.5×10-2×15000m3/hr

Thus time taken= 45,000/450 hr=100 hrs
