(i) it is used in water softening, laundering and cleaning.
(ii) it is also used in the manufacturing of glass,soap, Borax, caustic soda etc.
Quicklime :
(i) it is used in the manufacturing of sodium carbonate from caustic soda .
(ii) it is employed in the purification of sugar and in the manufacturing of dyestuffs.
