(i) as you know,
Na is highly reactive metal, react with water and evolve H2 gas. H2 gas catches fire due to the liberation of extreme heat in the reaction.
e.g.,2Na + H2O ---> 2NaOH + H2
(ii) sodium reacts with air to give oxide and peroxides.
Na2O2 along with a small amount of Na2O is formed.
4Na + O2 ---->2Na2O (minor)
Na2O + 1/2O2 --->Na2O2(major)
(iii) H2O2 is formed when sodium peroxide is dissolved in water.
Na2O2 + 2H2O --->2NaOH + H2O2
