Hibernation :

° Hibernation is a state of reduced activity in some organisms to escape cold winter conditions.

° Bears and squirrels inhabiting cold regions are examples of animals that hibernate during winters.

Aestivation :

° Aestivation is a state of reduced activity in some organisms to escape desiccation due to heat in summers.

° Fishes and snails are examples of organisms aestivating during summers.

Ectotherms :

° Ectotherms are cold blooded animals. Their temperature varies with their surroundings.

° Fishes, amphibians, and reptiles are ectothermal animals.

Hibernation and aeativation both requires escape in time but hibernation is winter sleep and aeativation is summer sleep. In both the energy is saved by reduced activity. Hibernation example- bear Aeativation example- fishes and snail Ectotherm are cold blooded animals . Their body temperature changes with external temperature.that means they conform ( change with environment) Endothermic organism regulate ( keep their body at a constant phase) that means they do not change with external temperature . They are also called warm blooded animals.
