Diamond :-
1. in diamond , C is sp³ - hybridized
2. diamond has three dimensional tetrahedral structure.
3. it is crystalline , transparent with extra brilliance ( due to high refractive index ) .
4. Hardest substance with high density and high melting point.
5. Bad conductor of electricity and heat ( because there have no free electrons in diamond)
6. it is used in glass cutting and jwellery and as abrasive.

Graphite :-
1.in Graphite , C is sp²- Hybridized
2. two dimensional , sheet like or layer like structure .
3. it has crystalline, opaque and shiny substance.
4. soft having soapy touch with low density and high melting point.
5. Good conductor of electricity and heat (because fourth electron is free )
6. it is used as a lubricating agent , in making electrodes, in pencil , crucible ( due to high melting point)
