THE THIRD STATEMENT IS TRUE

Explanation:

let's analyse first two statements :

1. X is younger than Y

⟹ X < Y ..(1)

2. Z is younger than X

⟹ Z < X ..(2)

From ( 1 ) and (2) , we get :

⟹ Z < X < Y ..(3)

Third Statement:

Z is younger than Y

⟹ Z < Y

in (3), we could see that Z is younger than Y, the third statement also says the same.

So, if the first two statements are true, the third statement is also true.

According to the question;

  • X is younger than Y ( 1st statement)
  • Z is younger than X (2nd statement)
  • Z is younger than Y (3rd statement)

now,

According to 1st statement

X < Y  ( 1st equation)

According to 2nd statement

Z < X (2nd equation)

From the 1st and 2nd equations, we can say;

Z < X < Y, ( 3rd equation) states that Z is younger than X, X is younger than Y, and Hence Z is younger than Y.

Now according to the 3rd equation, we can say,

If the first two statements are true, the third statement is true.
