Structure of 2-methyl butane is CH3-CH(CH3)-CH2-CH3. Putting the double bond at different positions and also the tetravalancy of each carbon atom in the molecule, the structures of various Alkene which give 2 - methylbutane on hydrogenation are :
CH2=C(CH3)-CH2-CH3 (2 methylbut-1-ene )
CH3-C(CH3)=CH-CH3(2-methylbut-2-ene)
CH3-CH(CH3)-CH=CH2(3-methylbut-1-ene)
CH2=C(CH3)-CH2-CH3 (2 methylbut-1-ene )
CH3-C(CH3)=CH-CH3(2-methylbut-2-ene)
CH3-CH(CH3)-CH=CH2(3-methylbut-1-ene)
