Question 13. A balloon starts from the ground and moves vertically upwards with an acceleration of 2
m/s2. After 5s, a stone is released from the balloon. Find the time taken by the stone to reach the ground.​

Answer:

Initial Velocity of balloon (u) = 0 m/s

Acceleration (a) = 2 m/s²

Height reached by balloon by 5 seconds,

S = ut+0.5at²

= 0.5*2*(5)²

= 0.5*2*25 m

= 25 m

Now stone is released,

Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s²

Initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s

S = ut+0.5gt²

25 = 0.5*9.8*t²

25 = 4.9t²

5.1 = t²

Time taken by the stone to reached the ground is 2.25 seconds.
