Given:

A shopkeeper purchased 5 marble for one rupee.

He wants to get 25% of profit.

To find:

The number of marbles to be sold for one rupee to get 25% of profit.

Solution:

A shopkeeper purchased 5 marble for one rupee.

The cost price of one marble = \frac{1}{5} rupee

1 rupee =  100 paise

The cost price of one marble = \frac{100}{5}

The cost price of one marble = 20 paise

For 25% of profit the selling price of one marble is,

SP = [(100 + gain%) / 100) × CP

SP = \frac{100 + 25}{100} × 20

SP = \frac{125}{100} × 20

SP = 25 paise

The selling price of one marble at 25% profit is 25 paise

Number of  marbles sold in one rupee (100 paise) at 25% profit = \frac{100}{25}

Number of  marbles sold in one rupee at 25% profit = 4 marbles

Final answer:

The number of marbles to be sold for one rupee to get 25% of profit is

4 marbles
