Answer :

Let, one side of the rectangle is x cm. Then, the other side is (x + 2) cm

By the given condition,

Area of the rectangle = 195 cm²

or, x (x + 2) = 195

or, x² + 2x - 195 = 0

or, x² + (15 - 13) x - 195 = 0

or, x² + 15x - 13x - 195 = 0

or, x (x + 15) - 13 (x + 15) = 0

or, (x + 15) (x - 13) = 0

Either x + 15 = 0 or, x - 13 = 0

then, x = - 15 and x = 13

Since, length cannot be taken negative, we take x = 13

∴ one side of the rectangle is 13 cm and the other side is 13 + 2 = 15 cm

Answer:

Let one of the side be x.

Therefore , other side = x+2

Area of Rectangle = Length×Breadth

or, x(x+2) = 195

or, x²+2x = 195

or, x²+2x - 195 = 0

or, x²+15x-13x -195

or, x(x+15)-13(x+15)

or, (x-13)(x+15) = 0

So, one of the side is 13

and other side = 13+2 = 15
