In a survey of 1000 people conducted on the liking of the genre of movies the results were as follows:
45% people like Comedy movies,
52% people like Animated movies,
60% people like Thriller movies.
The research also revealed :
25% people like to watch both animated and comedy movies,
28% likes both thriller and comedy movies and
30% of people like to watch animated and thriller movies.
6% does not like any of these genres.
Goals of the students
Formation of sets A,C,T,N representing people preferring Animated, Comedy, Thriller and None respectively.
Answer the following questions from the above:
1. Use formula n(A U B U C)= n(A)+n(B)+n(C)-n(A⋂B)-n(B⋂C)-n(A⋂C) +n(A⋂B⋂C) to calculate the number of people who like all the three genres of movies.
2. Use a relevant set formula to calculate how many people like only one genre of movies.
3. Find out how many people like at least two of the genres.

CASE STUDY
A vegetable seller purchased 50 Kg of potatoes at Rs 18 per Kg, 30 Kg of onions at Rs 17 per kg, 5 Kg of ginger at Rs 94 per Kg and 5 Kg of garlic at Rs 101 per Kg, from the wholesale market. He incurred Rs 250 as the carrying cost.

(i) At what rate per Kg should he sell each of the vegetables to earn a profit of 20 % from each.
(ii) If he is able to sell out all the vegetables, what will be his gain or loss percent on the total transaction?
(iii) Due to the present Pandemic situation the carrying cost increased by 80%. What will be the selling price if he has to maintain the previous level of loss or gain percent on the overall transaction?

Study such discount schemes of any 5 Companies taking any one model of car from each of the companies in Kolkata.
Goals of the students
Make a table showing the base price, calculate the discounts offered and calculate the new price, for each of the selected models).
Question 5
Mr Rajan, a senior citizen, wants to invest Rs 70000 in Fixed Deposit for 2 years. He is little confused in selecting the Banks as different banks provide different rates of interest .
Help him out in selecting the bank which will give him the maximum return by taking any 5 Banks and computing the amount at the end of 2 years compounded half-yearly ,for each bank.
