Question 2
Experiments have shown that carbon will bond with several different elements. Some examples are methane (CH4), Carbon Disulfide (CS2), Carbon Monoxide (CO). Which of the following answers best describes the Law of Multiple Proportions as it related to the bonding types in carbon as described above.

Law of Multiple proportion states that when two elements combine to form more than one compound, the mass of one element, which combines with a fixed mass of the other element, will always be ratios of whole numbers.
For example let us assume 2 molecules CO(carbon monoxide) adn CO2(carbon dioxide).
CO= 12gm of carbon + 16 gram of Oxygen.
CO2= 12gm carbon+ 32 gram of Oxygen .
thus ratio of mass of oxygen in the given two compounds is 16:32=1:2.
thus law of multiple proportions is proved.
