i) Any three examples which Bassanio gives to prove that appearances are deceptive are:-
- Facial make-up
- Wigs
- A beautiful scarf that wraps a woman's head and partially disguises her face and its dark intentions.
ii) Bassanio wins the right to marry Portia because he solves the riddle and correctly chooses the right casket. While the other suitors have incorrectly chosen the gold or silver casket, Bassanio chooses the lead casket and finds a picture of Portia inside, signaling that he can claim her as his bride.
iii) Essentially, the scroll says that the person who does not choose solely on appearances has the best luck and made the right choice. It instructs Bassanio to be happy with the person he has won and urges him not to look for another love. Bassanio finds the scroll in the lead casket, which is the right choice.
