Question 25. The value of 12 and 3/4 is
equal to :
O 1/2
O 3/8
O 3/5
O 2/5
Answers
Answer:
So, the value of x is 9
Step-by-step explanation:
x:12=3:4
“:” Sign is a sign of division. So then you replace “:” with “/”(another sign of division/fraction)
So, x/12=3/4
In division, the opposite signs (i.e. 12 and 3 and x and 4) go for multiplication.
Hence, x/12=3/4
4x = 12x3
Then it becomes a simple “x” equation and you find the value of x
4x= 36
x=36/4
x= 9
Which is your answer!

It is a simple question of ratio.
A ratio x : y can also be represented as x/y.
So, your question can be re written as
x / 12 = 3 / 4
Now, after cross multiplying (the denominator of L.H.S. gets multiplied to the numerator of R.H.S. and similarly the denominator of R.H.S. with the numerator of L.H.S.), we get
4 * x = 3 * 12
4 * x = 36
x = 36 / 4
x = 9
So, the answer is x=9.
Thank you.

It really depends what “:” means. It must be an operation, but it seems slightly ambiguous.
If “:” denotes division, then I agree that x=9. But if “:” denotes multiplication, then x=1, since 1*12=3*4. Alternatively, “:” could mean that x has the same cardinal relationship to 12 that 3 does to 4. If so, then x=12–1=11, since 3=4–1,

You can either solve for x by ratio (3/4 or 75% of 12) or by using lowest common denominator (multiply one or both sides until the denominators are equal, fill in the blanks then working backwards) in the case of a simple problem like this the first will give you the answer, but if this is math homework you’re probably going to want to do the second to show your teacher you understand the concept. Knowing HOW to solve the problem is more important then just knowing the answer. Which is why I haven’t simply said the answer is 9.

look at the variable, and the equivalent on the other, 3
look at the last numbers on the ends 12 and 4 (which is the equivalent side)
to get from 4 to 12 we multiply by 3
to find x we multiply 3 by 3= 9

Given, x/12 = 3/4
=> x = (12*3)/4
=> x = 36/4
=> x = 9
So, the value of x is 9.
Divide 12 into four equal parts.. (3,3,3,3)
The value of x is given as 3 parts.. (3+3+3)=9
A single line answer could be… “The value of x is 3/4 part of 12”
So value of x=9
