Out of balanced force and imbalanced force , shape of an object is changed by applying balanced force as it acts on all the surface of the object equally.

One example to illustrate the above statement is: squeezing of a balloon. When a balloon is being squeezed with two hands from two sides, the shape of the balloon changes.

Because of the resultant force being equal, the balloon doesn't move but its shape is changed.
