 A percent Is a fraction with denominator 100. i.e 1/100


Per cent is derived from Latin word ‘per centum’ meaning ‘per hundred’.


It is denoted by % symbol
1% means 1/100= .01

Solution:

Total number of students = 25    (given)

Number of good students in mathematics  = 72% of 25 

= (72/100) x 25

= 72/4 =18

Number of students not good in mathematics  = 25 – 18 = 7

Hence, Number of students not good in mathematics  =7

Therefore, number of students good in mathematics

= 100 - 72% [CROSS

25 - ? MULTIPLICATION]
