Sol'n let the base of the triangle be x

In the figure the hypotenuse is representing the ladder.

And the base is representing the distance between the foot of ladder and the foot of the building.(which we have to find).

Here, we will apply Pythagoras Theorem,

Hypotenuse ² = perpendicular ²+base²

15²=12²+x²

225-144=x²

x²=81

x=√81

x=9m

distance between the foot of ladder and the foot of the building will be 9 metre.
