The total sales made during the year amounts to Rs 75,800

Explanation:

The debtors account will be created as:

Debtors Account

DR side

Balance b/d                                        Rs 20,400

Sales A/c                                             Rs75,800

Total                                                     Rs 96,200

Cr side

Cash A/c                                            Rs 60,800

Sales Return A/c                                Rs 5,400

Bad Debts A/c                                    Rs 2,400

Balance c/d                                         Rs 27,600

Total                                                     Rs 96,200

Note: The cash sales which as per cash book will not considered here as it is the item of bank reconciliation statement.

Working Note:

Sales Account = Total - Balance b/d

= Rs96,200 - Rs 20,400

= Rs 75,800
