Let the numbers be 5x and 11x

So (5x+9) : (11x+9)= 8 : 11

So (5x+9)11= (11x+9)8

Simplifying we get,

88x-55x= (99–72)

33x= 27 ; So x= 27/33= 9/11

So the numbers are

5x= 5(9/11)= 45/11

11x= 11(9/11)= 9

Therefore the numbers are (45/11) and 9

The numbers are not whole numbers.

×××××××××××××××××××××××××× Check:

[(45/11)+9] : (9+9)

= [(45+99)/11] : [(198/11)]

=144 : 198

= (144/18) : (198/18)

= 8 : 11

okay
