For fixing a point on the graph sheet we need, x-coordinate and y-coordinate. The horizontal line (usually called the x-axis) the vertical line (usually called the y-axis)

The center of the coordinate system (where the lines intersect) is called the origin. The axes intersect when both x and y are zero. The coordinates of the origin are (0, 0).

A point is named by its ordered pair of the form of (x, y). The first number corresponds to the x-coordinate and the second to the y-coordinate.

A point lies on the y-axis if its X-co-ordinate is 0 , & on the x-axis if its y - co-ordinate is 0.

i) TRUE.

A point whose x coordinate is zero and y-coordinate is non-zero will lie on the y-axis.

II) FALSE.A point lies on the y-axis if its X-co-ordinate is 0 , & on the x-axis if its y - co-ordinate is 0.

III) TRUE
