The shadows of different shapes of trees, and building are formed differently during different time of the day.

During the morning, the sun rises from east. Thus, the shadow of the building or tree will be formed on its left side, i.e. the west side.

During afternoon, the sun is over the head. Thus, the there will be no shadow of the building or tree, in the afternoon or the shadow will be directly below the building.

During evening, the sun sets in the west side. Thus, the shadow of the building or tree, formed will be on its right side, i.e. east side.
