Question 4
What does the midline, period, amplitude, and horizontal shift of a graph represent in the real
world? For example, if I'm evaluating a sin function graph, and the points on the scatter plot
represent temperatures for a certain city from one year to the next, what do the terms really
represent?

Answer:

The period goes from from any point to the next matching point or one peak to the next peak. The mid line or center line is a horizontal axis about which the graph of a periodic function oscillates. The amplitude is the height from the mid line to the peak .
