because they take only o2 from water through gills
gills can't help them to take oxygen from air

》》The water also acts as an hydration for fish's gills So , when it is out of water all the air flowing by the gills but no water , it is like something is BLOW DRYING the gills of fish.
》》So the gills dry up and no longer functions properly , which is why it suffocates and dies when taken out of water .
》》It only takes in the oxygen dissolved in water except Whales
