Winston Churchill believe in the superiority off white men. He described the Mahatma Gandhi seditious because it was under his leadership the Congress launched non violence struggle against British rule.

Gandhiji wore Western clothes while practicing as a lawyer in India and South Africa. He did so to identify himself with the Peasants and common people of India who were simply dressed.

But Churchill saw it as a sign of inferiority and called Gandhiji as a half naked fakir. Winston Churchill could not understand Gandhiji's deep commitment & love towards his country and his struggle against imperialism.

Gandhijis dress was a sign of simplicity, modesty and purity. Even when Gandhiji went to England for attending the second round table conference in1931 he wore short dhoti to meet king George v at the Buckingham Palace.
