☛Question :

7. Kapil, Keshav and Karan are planting rice saplings in a field. Kapil has planted x saplings, Keshav has
planted 5 saplings less than Kapil and Karan has planted 5 saplings more than Kapil. How many saplings
have been planted by Keshav and Karan? The total number of saplings to be planted is 100 less than 4
times the number of saplings planted by Kapil. Express the total number of saplings to be planted using X.

Saplings planted by Kapil = x

Saplings planted by Keshav = x - 5

Saplings planted by Karan = x + 5

So , saplings planted by Keshav and Karan

= x - 5 + x - 5 = 2x

A/Q Total number of saplings planted

= 4x - 100

Saplings planted by all three of them = x + 2x =3x

Given that total number of saplings = 4x - 100 = 3x ( ∵ the calculation done above proves it )

So , value of x :—

=> 4x - 100 = 3x

=> 4x - 3x = 100

=> x = 100

∴ Total number of saplings planted = 3×100 = 300

• Saplings planted by Keshav is 5 less than Kapil

• Saplings planted by Karan is 5 more than Kapil

• Saplings planted by Keshav and Karan

• Total number of saplings planted in terms of X.

Solution:-

Kapil has planted X saplings.

So,

Saplings planted by Keshav=X-5

And,

Saplings planted by Karan=X+5

So total saplings planted by Keshav and Karan will be:

⇒ (X-5)+(X+5)

⇒ X-5+X+5

⇒ 2X

So total saplings planted by Keshav and Karan is 2x.

Now it is given that total saplings planted is 100 less than 4 times of no. Of saplings planted by Kapil.

So,

Total samplings=4(Planted by Kapil)-100

Total samplings=4X-100
