Given : The shopkeeper offered me one of the T-shirts for Rs. 350 usually selling for 8/7 of that price and the other one for Rs. 300 usually selling for 7/6 of that price

To Find : Of the two T-shirts which one do you think is a better bargain and by how much percent?

Solution:

T-shirts for Rs. 350 usually selling for 8/7

Usual selling price = (8/7)350  = 400  Rs

Bargain = 400 - 350 = Rs 50

Bargain % = (50/400) * 100 = 12.5 %

T-shirts for Rs. 300 usually selling for 7/6

Usual selling price = (7/6)300  = 350  Rs

Bargain = 350 - 300 = Rs 50

Bargain % = (50/350) * 100 = 14.3 %

in Amount both bargain are same   = 50 Rs

in Terms % of percentage   Rs. 300 usually selling for 7/6   has 14.3 - 12.5 = 1.8% Extra Bargain
