Actually, to answer it, will can prove it as

D = b^{2} - 4ac

= k^{2} - 4k

= k(k - 4)

so, now in equation

x = \frac{-k \sqrt{k(k - 4)}{2}

now, in any case

- k will surely, be less than 0

also, it will greater than \sqrt{D}

hence, in any case

<b>Roots are always negative</b>

or you can do it through hit and trail method, as you can put any value the answer will be negative!!
