Answer:

Equilibrium constant cannot be changed upon addition of catalyst as catalyst affects both forward and backward reactions to the same extent and hence don't alter the equilibrium constant. Rather it provides an alternative path wth lower activation energy to fasten the reaction.

SO both the assertion and reason are correct and is the correct explanation and answer is option A.
