=> Let the common ratio be x, then we get

=> 5x + 7x = 84

=> 12x = 84

=> x = 84/12

=> x = 7

as we get the value of x we can put it in the ratio, 5x & 7x

=> 5x = 5*7 = 35

=> 7x = 7*7 = 49

Hence, the two children will get, 35 and 49 toffees respectively to 5:7
