Given

length of rectangular lawn is 15 m

Width of rectangular lawn is 9 m

Width of lawn without path is 9 − 1.5

= 7.5 m

Area of the lawn is 15 × 9

= 135 m²

Area of the lawn without path is 15 × 7.5

= 112.5 m²

Area of the path is 135 − 112.5

= 22.5 m²

Required Answer:-

Here we have a rectanglular lawn with length 15 m and breadth 9 m. The path will add more (1.5 × 2) m to the length and (1.5 × 2) m to the breadth. Area of the path will be the difference of area of bigger rectangle and area of smaller rectangle.

We have:-

Dimension of bigger rectangle:

  • Length = 15 m + (1.5 × 2)m = 18 m
  • Breadth = 9 m + (1.5 × 2)m = 12 m

Dimension of smaller rectangle:

  • Length = 15 m
  • Breadth = 9 m

And we know that, Area = l × b

Then:-

Area of the path

= Area of bigger one - Area of smaller one

= 18 m × 12 m - 15 m × 9 m

= 216 m² - 135 m²

= 81 m²

Hence:-

The area of the path will be 81
