Hey mate your answer,
Mathilda who told lies and burned to death was a moral story which says us not to tell lies otherwise we would once face the same situations and incidents which was face by Mathilda.

This is written in form of poem which says;
About Mathilde in the first stanza that how se mad fun my telling lies.She was a little liar who said lies even to her aunt.
Once;

Her Aunt was off to the Theatre
To see that Interesting Play
The Second Mrs. Tanqueray.
She had refused to take her Niece
To hear this Entertaining Piece:
A Deprivation Just and Wise
To Punish her for Telling Lies.

At night ⏰ see was sleeping and suddenly the fire took place. She went to her window and started shouting about the fire but the people passing through didn't believed on her shoutings and said, "little liar" and passed away. No one helped her and she and her house was burnt out when her aunt came back......

This was the summary of the poem.

Hillaire Belloc, in my opinion was correct. And the famous HINDI PHRASE comes here,
'Jaisi karni vaisi bharni'
and
'Juth bole kauva Kate'

She lied and she got a punishment. She lied and lost the honesty level. She lied and lost the believer. She lied and at last she lost her life, herself..............
