(i) Who is Kabuliwala?

Answer: Kabuliwala was an Afghan street vendor with tall, shabby clothes. He had a turban on his head, sawdust on his shoulders, and a few boxes of dried grapes in his hands. His name was Rahmat.

(ii) Why was Kabuliwala confused?

Answer: Uttar Kabuliwala saw a girl he did not know. The last time he saw Mini was when she was very young. Now, she was all set for the wedding. He had that childlike image in his mind and hence he was confused.

(iii) What happened to Kabuliwala?

Answer: Uttar Kabuliwala was sent to jail for causing grievous hurt to a person. He had a client in the narrator's settlement who refused to pay his debt for a shawl. Things got worse and Rahmat had stabbed the man in a jiffy.

(iv) Why was Kabuliwala so attached to the narrator's daughter?

Answer: Rahmat was a native of Afghanistan. He had come to Kolkata in connection with the business. After coming back home, they had a daughter like Mini. He wanted to be with her. He saw the reflections of his daughter in Mini and hence became very attached to her.
