Once beggar reached the palace that was on the banks of the deep lake and he was quite hungry. He curses the city on the grounds that the rich king and queen did not give the food but the herdsman did so.

The Ballad of Semmer water' is a poem about a land under the semmer water where there is a king's palace. The king and queen's attitude towards life and not so well to do people are sketched throughout the poem. It is a poem of high moral value and therefore it is generally taught to children in school level.
