Definition Of Triangle :-

  • A triangle is a simple closed curve or polygon which is created by three line-segments.
  • In geometry, any three points, specifically non-collinear, form a unique triangle and separately, a unique plane

Properties of a triangle

These are the properties of a triangle:

  • A triangle has three sides, three angles, and three vertices.
  • The sum of all internal angles of a triangle is always equal to 180°. This is called the angle sum property of a triangle.
  • The sum of the length of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the third side.
  • The side opposite to the largest angle of a triangle is the largest side.

Classification of a triangle by internal angles. Based on the angle measurement, there are three types of triangles:

  1. Acute Angled Triangle - An acute triangle has all of its angles less than 90°.
  2. Right-Angled Triangle - In a right triangle, one of the angles is equal to 90° or right angle.
  3. Obtuse Angled Triangle - An obtuse triangle has any of its one angles more than 90°.

Classification of triangles by length of sides. Based on the length of the sides, triangles are classified into three types:

  1. Scalene Triangle - A scalene triangle is a type of triangle, in which all the three sides have different side measures.
  2. Isosceles Triangle - In an isosceles triangle, two sides have equal length.
  3. Equilateral Triangle - An equilateral triangle has all three sides equal to each other. The internal angles are of equal degrees, i.e. each of the angles is 60°.
