Question:
Calculate the gram-atoms in 88.75g of chlorine. [Cl=35.5]

Answer:
Gram atom = Mass÷R.A.M
= 88.75÷35.5 gram atoms
= 2.5 gram atoms

Doubt:
My teacher provided the answer but I don't understand what the answer means.

"Gram atom is the relative atomic mass of an element expressed in grams."

Then in the question relative atomic mass is given 35.5 a.m.u. So, gram atomic mass should be 35.5 grams.

answer:

n = m/Mr

gram atom = ??

mass = 88.75

Mr(Cl) = 35.5

n = 88.75/35.5

  = 2.5 mol

This is my answer in my course book CHF02
